Detection and Attribution of Human Influence on the Global Diurnal Temperature Range Decline

Abstract A decline in the global diurnal temperature range (DTR) and its implications for human natural systems have been widely reported, yet it remains unclear whether humans a detectable influence on DTR to what extent anthropogenic greenhouse gases (GHG) may be driving such changes. Results indicate that effect of forcing is separately from across globe many regions. GHG dominant contributor changes caused decrease by −0.32°C during 1951–2018, close observed change −0.41°C. Decreased aerosols (AER) increased Europe, while AER decreased Asia. If gas emissions continue rise, further decreases are likely future.
